AUGUST MEMBERSHIP MEETING SPECIAL NOTICE:  Your chapter officers have been juggling chainsaws lately trying to stay on top of all that has been set in motion with the chapter's 25th anniversary, the Hootch's 20th anniversary renovations, and the Traveling Wall.  For a couple of months the regular member meeting time has been preempted by larger meetings including some chapter members and many members of the Tallahassee community.  That was set to happen again in August, which is why the second page of the August Free Fire Wire says that there will be another "public meeting" on August 21st ... but there won't be.  The date changed after that was written.  AT 7:30 p.m. ON AUGUST 21st THERE WILL BE A MEETING OF THE CHAPTER 96 MEMBERSHIP AT THE HOOTCH.  A PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF THE VVA NATIONAL CONSTITUTION WILL BE ON THE AGENDA.  THE PURPOSE OF THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT IS TO REDUCE THE QUORUM REQUIREMENT FOR CHAPTER BOARD MEETINGS FROM A 2/3 MAJORITY TO A MAJORITY.  If approved by the board and members, this proposed amendment will be sent to the VVA Florida State Council for action at its September meeting.
 
TRAVELING WALL COMMITTEE CHAIRS NEEDED:  Our chair for the OPENING CEREMONIES COMMITTEE for the Traveling Wall encountered an unanticipated scheduling conflict, so now we need to fill the vacancy.  We also need a couple of other committee chairs.  I guess the GOPHER COMMITTEE name wasn't very attractive, so we don't need one of those.  We need a MOBILE STRIKE TEAM LEADER (with the same "job description" as formerly pertaining to the Gopher Committee chair. <Grin>)  See:  http://vva96.org/wall4.htm
 
MEMBER DONATIONS:  The nice thing about asking members for donations, is that those nine yards of state-mandated legalistic gobbledygook don't have to be included <Grin>.  Nobody's going to twist your arm.  We just didn't want you to feel "left out".  If you feel so inclined, we still need donations to help defray the cost of the Traveling Wall and members are welcome to donate too.  An addressed envelope is enclosed for your convenience.
